Community Housing

Our group homes are small co-educational community residential programs that provide stable shared living environments. Residents are actively involved in meal preparation, household maintenance tasks and taking part in structured daily activities. In addition to considerable on-site staff support, on-call assistance is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

Housing: Programs

Residential services

The residential services are essentially comprised of three coeducational group homes designed for individuals coping with mental health difficulties and striving to acquire the necessary skills to live independently in the community. In order to exercise this potential, residents participate in structured activities and goal-oriented life planning and management skill training. Residents also work in close collaboration with residential staff on developing self-confidence and self-esteem through the successful accomplishment of daily group living. Residential staff also assist each resident as they endeavour to realize their future autonomous living goals.

MIR Plus

Mir Plus is a short-term intensive residential program with a mandate to reintegrate individuals living with persistent mental health disorders. The program is reserved for patients currently receiving psychiatric in-patient care from the McGill's hospital network. Application must be made through a social worker in the network.

The coeducational (seven men and four women) group home houses these eleven adults on a voluntary basis. Over a period of six to nine months, program participants develop life skills and competencies with the assistance of program staff. Depending on their needs and goals, participants can then move on to a variety of possible accommodations ranging from supervised settings (such as our residential services) to private living arrangements (often with the assistance of our community support teams).

The MIR Plus team of six mental health workers provides intensive support seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a 24-hour emergency line available to participants at all times.
